Frequently Asked Questions
What if there are tears when I drop off my child?
This is normal for any child who doesn’t regularly attend, and even for some who do. Preschool Shepherds understand that some children might have a hard time letting go at the door. Shepherds will talk to parents about what they want to do, but our experience shows that most kids will stop crying after 5-10 minutes when parents leave. If not, parents will be paged and the Shepherd will discuss the situation with the parent.
Can I bring my little one to the main service?
Our services are rated PG-13, so we encourage all preschool and elementary kids to stay in the kids area because it is made just for them! Thank you for being considerate of other adults by allowing your child to be as loud as they want in the children’s ministry, not during the service.
When does my kiddo move up to the next class?
When babies begin to walk, they move to the toddler room. Children then promote to the next class on their birthday. And, for those entering 1st grade, they move up on Promotion Sunday in August.
When is my child too sick to come to church?
Please bless other families by keeping your child home if there are any of the following: a rash, sinus drainage that is not clear, recent illness, diarrhea or vomiting, FEVER within the last 24 hours.
Can I come back and peek in on my little one?
We welcome all parents to experience a day in the life
of a preschooler or elementary student! Make time to see what they do and how they are learning!
Is there a place for nursing mothers to go?
The nursery offers a quiet and welcome place for nursing mothers.
How can I serve in the children’s ministry?
There are many ways to serve in children’s ministry – there are even ways to serve and NOT serve directly with the kids! Great with computers? Have a knack for greeting new adults? Love puppets or crafts? We have a place for you and your gift! Contact the church office or grab a Shepherd to get connected!
