A follower of Jesus is called to Biblical Community. The question for most of us isn’t “will we be in community,” but “what kind of community will we be in?” Biblical Community is believers connecting, and sharing their lives with one another. It’s an environment where they live out and apply the Gospel in their own lives and towards our community. It is here that we try to facilitate Biblical Community. Biblical Community is the destination, while groups are the vehicle.

Community Groups are intended to be more than just a typical Bible Study. The vision is for people to share their lives authentically and that there would be a welcoming, “come as you are” atmosphere. We desire an environment where one can be who he or she really is and leave the “church face” at home. In sharing life together, the group would be one where you share your struggles, confess your sins and be pointed to Jesus. A Community Group is where you are listened to and accepted for free, but encouraged to take the next step in applying the Gospel to your life.

Groups study books of the Bible together, various life topics (marriage, budget, communication, etc…) and spiritual topics over the course of the year. Periodically groups will all study the same material to give our church unity through this area.

Community Groups are encouraged to be on mission by doing periodical service projects in our community, to find local needs and see how the group can help meet them. We encourage Groups to invite non-Christian friends to their socials and to have block parties in their neighborhoods to be a light to their friends and neighbors. A group should never exist for itself, but for the purpose of Jesus in being and making disciples.

Groups gather adults of all ages, stages of life and spiritual maturity. They usually consist of 4-12 people and typically meet in a home or apartment. Each group handles child-care differently, so it is important to contact the group you would like to visit before going. If you don’t connect with a group after a couple of times, don’t worry, feel free to try another group.
