I hope you are having a great week. It is pretty cool to see so many of you making a difference in Jesus' name this week at Mission Week in North Richmond. If you have been serving this week, or even if it's only been one night, way to go! Thanks for serving Fort Bend county and seeking to see the hearts of Fort Bend transformed by the love of Jesus.
This Sunday we have another opportunity to make a difference through the power of invitation. It's Father's Day, and we are throwing a party for the whole family. We will have food before and after every service (Special Note to 8:30 - you better get there on time or all the incredible, amazing donuts from The Grove will be gone! If you have never had a Grove Donut - prepare yourself!). We have bounce houses for the kids and Segways for everyone 15 and up. And to top it all off, we are kicking off a brand new series "SHOCKED: Surprising Things Jesus Said". A new series is always a great time to invite someone to join us!
Friends, our invitations make a difference. I know it did in my life. I thought church was a waste of a good Sunday, populated by people who sucked on lemons, learning about a wimpy Jesus and an angry God. My cousin Eric, though, kept investing in me and inviting me. He must have invited me more than a dozen times. So, don't give up! Finally, I gave up and said yes. I am so glad I did. God used his invitation to introduce Himself to me. I discovered that church was a life-giving community, Jesus was spectacular and the God of the Bible was a powerful, loving and personal being who desired a relationship with me. I am living proof that invitations make a difference!
So say a prayer and be BOLD! Make the call, send the text/e-mail, walk across the hall, street or whatever it takes to invite someone on your heart to be here for this big day.
It is an honor partnering with you on this mission to make Jesus known!
